Admission process for foreigners

Terms of studying

Foreigners studying at the University of Economics in Katowice pay for studies. Tuition fee for full-time studies conducted in Polish language is not charged in case of:

  • citizens of the European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and members of their families, if residing in the territory of Poland
  • foreigners who have been granted a permanent residence permit (settlement permit) or long-term residence permit of the EU
  • foreigners who in the territory of Poland have been granted a temporary residence permit (residence permit for a fixed period) pursuant to some special circumstances, referred to in Articles: 159 section 1, or Article 186 section 1 subsections 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners
  • foreigners who hold refugee status granted by the Republic of Poland
  • foreigners who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of Poland
  • foreigners who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland
  • holders of the C1 level certificate in Polish language issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language
  • holders of the valid Card of the Pole
  • holders of the formal decision on Polish origin
  • spouses, children and parents of the Polish citizen, if residing in the territory of Poland

Log in to our application system, choose your field of studies and fill in the application form.

Scan the following documents (all scans should be in colour):

  • original diploma of higher education – at least Bachelor's degree (check the recognition rules), legalized or bearing an apostille (if applicable);
  • translation of the diploma into Polish made by a sworn translator;
  • original diploma supplement / transcript of records and its official translation into Polish (unless it was issued in English);
  • a document confirming that your education entitles you to continue education at the university (masters). It is required only if there is no such information on the certificate;
  • certificate confirming your proficient command of English (list of certificates);
  • recent health certificate issued by a medical doctor, stating that there are no contraindications for your undertaking studies (if you use another health certificate form you must submit its official translation into Polish);
  • passport;
  • document confirming entitlement to study without payment (if applicable);
  • document confirming a legal stay in Poland, e.g. a visa (if applicable).

  • Pay the application fee;
  • upload the proof of payment into your account 
    (in the section where you uploaded all your documents). 

When the payment will be noted on the University's account your application will be furtherly processed and verified.

When the verification will be positive, and the documentation will be complete, you will receive an invoice for the first semester fee. When we confirm the transfer we will issue the admission letter, which can be used for your visa application.

Apply for a visa in a Polish consulate. You can start the process not sooner than three months before your planned arrival in Poland. Remember to take all of your documents to be legalized by a Polish consul.

Come to Poland before the start of the semester. Come to the Admissions Office and bring all of the original documents with you.

Deadline for applying on-line in Dream Apply system: 31st July, 2019

Deadline for submitting original documents in the Admissions Office: 20th September, 2019


Your original documents must be submitted in the Admissions Office:

  • July: from Monday to Friday, 8:00-14:00
  • August: from Monday to Friday, 8:00-14:00 (excluding 12-16 August)
  • September: from Monday to Friday, 8:00-14:00

To enrol in the study programme in Poland, you must have valid health insurance.
Before the semester starts, you must submit to the International Relations Office all original documents e-mailed previously as well as your secondary school certificate and its translation, health insurance, and visa or residence permit or other document that permits you to stay in Poland.
