About the event
The event is organised within the framework of the international alliance BAUHAUS4EU - A European University for Resilient, Sustainable, Inclusive and Beautiful Regions, which is part of the prestigious European Universities initiative supported by the European Commission. The University of Economics in Katowice is the only university in Poland belonging to this alliance.
As part of the overall undertaking, four annual editions of the BAUHAUS4EU Forum have been planned. The first took place last year in Castelo Branco, Portugal, and the University of Economics in Katowice has the honour of hosting the second edition. The next forums are planned in Amiens, France, and Thessaloniki, Greece. Given the cyclical nature of the Forum, it is important that the edition organised in Katowice - a multicultural, open and dynamically developing city - be remembered for a long time as a model example of excellent organisation and effective promotion of the region.
The event will bring together representatives of 10 partner universities from 9 European countries: students, doctoral candidates, academic and administrative staff, as well as invited guests from national and European institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, NAWA, FRSE, the Katowice City of Science Consortium, as well as municipal, metropolitan and regional authorities. In total, Katowice will host nearly 300 participants from across Europe.
The Forum programme includes, among others, the international conference “Transforming regions for EU”, a ceremonial meeting of the Council of Rectors, debates, workshops, networking events, and a special ceremony inaugurating the BAUHAUS4EU Green Campus on the premises of the University of Economics in Katowice.
Thanks to the international presence of the alliance’s regional partners, the Forum will also serve as an excellent platform for building the city’s image as a space for sustainable development, cooperation between academia and the socio-economic environment, and the shaping of green and inclusive public policies.
Moreover, the promotion and dissemination of the event’s outcomes will cover all partner universities in the BAUHAUS4EU alliance, which together educate more than 120,000 students and employ over 10,000 staff, as well as their regions-translating into a reach of nearly 3.2 million residents. As a result, this will significantly strengthen the international visibility of Katowice and contribute to increased interest in the city among international students and staff.
Organising the BAUHAUS4EU Forum is an important step in the international promotion of the city as a centre of education, technological innovation and European dialogue.
