1st Polish Conference of Urban and Regional Studies POLREG 2020

Katowice, 20th-22nd September 2020

Integration of the urban and regional researchers' from various disciplines (including socio-economic geography and spatial economy, economics and finance, political science and administration, architecture and urban planning, management science), in the era of increasing pressure on the international competitiveness of our research, it now appears as a necessity.

High scientific and research, educational and advisory activities of our group is the cornerstone for creating a joint conference of significant rank in Poland and Central Europe. It is a challenge which, especially in the context of the 30th anniversary of self-government in Poland, not only enables the integration of our environment, but also creates a space for multidisciplinary discussion on urban and regional research.

The need for such discussion is evident among both "experienced" scientists,
as well as among people entering the science and HEIs sector who, as part of POLREG, by presenting their own research and undertaking discussions, can improve their scientific skills and acquire quality in preparing valuable papers and scientific projects.

The 30th anniversary of self-government in Poland is a great opportunity to initiate the 1st Polish Conference on Urban and Regional Research, including a broader debate on existing research experience and application in the field of programming, management and evaluation of local and regional development processes have been taking place in Poland.

It is also an opportunity to discuss the challenges of future urban and regional studies in this turbulent time, including those in which both self-governments and business as well as the social sector are interested.
