On Thursday 24th, 2020 an official ceremony took place during which the CEEMAN President, prof. Danica Purg presented our Rector, prof. Celina Olszak, Ph.D., D.Sc. with the accreditation certificate. Due to the pandemic situation the event was conducted online during the annual CEEMAN conference.
In her speech, the Rector emphasized that receiving such a prestigious accreditation is a great honor.
"It is the first international accreditation in the history of our institution. The process of obtaining it has proved to be very challenging, inspiring and integrating for our academic community: faculty, administration, students, alumni, partners from the business and institutional environment" – said prof. Celina Olszak, Ph.D., D.Sc.
At the end, she thanked the whole CEEMAN IQA team for their great support and thorough analysis of the self-assessment report and added that as the newly elected Rector, she plans to implement the recommendations of the Accreditation Committee so that the University of Economics in Katowice becomes an even better place to study and cooperate with.
The ceremony was a part of the 28th CEEMAN Annual Conference "Ideas and Inspiration for Management Development from Fields Beyond Management". Our University was represented by by Rector prof. Celina Olszak, Ph.D., D.Sc., Vice-Rector for Education and Internationalization, Prof. Sławomir Smyczek, Ph.D., Krystyna Mitręga-Niestrój, Ph.D. and Marcin Baron, Ph.D., Marta Grybś-Kabocik and Edyta Lachowicz-Santos - members of the Expert Team for Accreditation.
The University received the prestigious accreditation CEEMAN International Quality Accreditation (IQA) on February 2020. IQA is awarded to universities by the International Association for Management Development in Dynamic Societies CEEMAN. It is a quality certificate confirming the fulfillment of requirements for efficient functioning, a good level of teaching and research, financial stability as well as high-quality education. This is the first international institutional accreditation granted to our University, and also the only one among other HEIs in Silesia.
We would like to thank all our faculty members, students, PhD students, alumni, partners and friends for a huge engagement and support in the process of receiving the accreditation.
Additionally, our University has obtained eligibility and is currently applying for another prestigious accreditations: the American AACSB for the whole institution and EFMD for International Business (Master's Degree Program).
