Graphical visualization of the Development Strategy of the University

As part of activities aimed at obtaining international accreditations, we prepared a graphical visualization of our University’s mission, vision, values, priorities and objectives. Versions in the form of large-format printouts have been displayed at buildings A, AITC (Advanced Information Technology Centre) and Rector’s Office. We warmly invite the entire academic community to take a look at the most important elements of the Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice.

The University’s operating philosophy has been specified in the mission and vision included in the 2018-2025 Development Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice, adopted by the Resolution of the Senate of the University of Economics in Katowice No 40/2017/2018 of 22 March 2018. The University’s mission is construed in terms of its role, whereas the vision is objective and refers to the key values, which, on the one hand, constitute a basis for undertaking activities by the University and, on the other hand, they reflect pursuits and undertakings as regards development.

Key values underlying the development of the University’s Strategy are:

  1. Innovation
  2. Quality
  3. Internationalization
  4. Excellence
  5. Social responsibility
  6. Integrity

All study programmes, activities or projects implemented at the University should be based on care for the abovementioned values, as well as area-related and horizontal priorities.

Works on the Development Strategy of the University were carried out in the form of workshops. On the one hand, it contributed to full transparency of the process, but it also allowed to effectively communicate it within the academic community and its surroundings. The meetings were organized for 6 groups of people, namely: senior academic staff members, assistant lecturers and assistant professors, administration employees, students, doctoral candidates, business community representatives and local government units. Overall, over 194 people took part in the first and second rounds of workshops. The workshops were carried out using the FGI method (Focus Group Interview) by the ad hoc Senate Committee for Updating the Development Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice, chaired by dr. hab. Adam Drobniak, professor at the University of Economics.

It is worth noting that apart from the abovementioned Development Strategy – as one of the few Universities in Poland – we also have the 2018-2025 Internationalization Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice. Its core priorities include:
P1. International networks and research and business projects
P2. International educational offer
P3. Internationalization culture

Further information on both strategies can be found on the following website.
