Ladies and Gentlemen,
Level of epidemic threat caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, especially in the Silesia region, remains to be high and disturbing. Considering recommendations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Main Sanitary Inspectorate also taking care of the safety of the whole academic community of the University of Economics in Katowice, classes of the winter semester 2020/2021 for:
- Students of the second and subsequent years of the Bachelor programs delivered in Polish
- Students of the Master programs delivered in Polish
shall be conducted online, which is with the use of the techniques and methods of distance learning. Undertaking this decision we have also considered our premises infrastructure (size of the classrooms, common spaces and corridors).
In the traditional form there will be conducted classes within international mobility programs and bilateral agreements. The condition to receive a grant is mobility and participating in classes in the receiving university. Considering the above, all classes of the programs delivered in English will be conducted traditionally with all the sanitary restrictions.
Information on the form of conducting classes for the first year full-time and part-time Bachelor students shall be announced at the end of August/September this year.
Regardless of the form of conducting classes which is yet to be determined for the newly accepted students (for particular groups of students) within the University premises there will be organized direct meetings with the Dean’s Office, Managers and Curators of the study programs. During the Adaptation Days there will be conducted dedicated online trainings concerning terms of studying, rights and responsibilities of the students and other organizational issues. There will also be conducted technical preparation for studying in the online form and presented applicable security terms.
We would like to inform that with the beginning of September we have also planned a series of trainings dedicated to our employees concerning improving conducting classes online. Moreover, all the students shall get the access to the training materials on forms, types and terms of online teaching.
Detailed information on the organization of the winter semester 2020/2021 and mode of work of the university administration, shall be presented with the beginning of September.
