Welcome to the first MERCURI students
On Friday, October 2, we welcomed at the university the first students of the new study program conducted in English: European Master's in Customer Relationship Marketing (MERCURI).
Students from Azerbaijan, Brazil, France, Nigeria, Poland and Italy were greeted by Prof. Sławomir Smyczek, Vice-Rector for Education and Internationalisation. He emphasized how unique on a European scale is Mercuri, where the students will follow courses conducted by experts in marketing and consumer behavior at 4 different universities. Then the principles of studying and the planned learning outcomes were presented by Prof. Justyna Matysiewicz, Dean of School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies. The students were also officially welcomed by the representatives of three partner universities from France, Germany and Spain with whom we connected online:
- Prof. Jean-Luc GIANNELLONI from Université Grenoble Alpes,
- Prof. Alexandra Angress from Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences,
- Prof. Alfonso Diaz Segura, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Prof. Paco Suay from CEU Universidad Cardenal Herrera.
It is at these universities (in this order) that the students will continue their education and intership after completing the first semester in Katowice.
Students also watched a presentation about the potential of Katowice as a city open to business, culture and science, a great place to live, study, work and spend free time and why the University of Economics in Katowice is a good choice. They also had the opportunity to learn about the Erasmus scholarship offer prepared by the International Relations Office.
Prof. Stephane Ganassali, academic consultant of Mercuri, presented the origins of the program, main goals and objectives, the thematic scope and structure of the program.
At the end, the students visited the most important places on campus. Although they will spend most of their time in the designated classroom, they had the opportunity to visit the CNTI auditorium and say hello to the foreign exchange students, who today also started the Orientation Days, and visit a unique place in the Rectorate: The Senate Room.
The whole Adaptation Day was organized in compliance with the sanitary regime, in accordance with the University's regulations.
