Certificates and accreditations of the School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies

The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) was established as the State Accreditation Committee on January 1, 2002 pursuant to the art. 38, sec. 1 of the Act of September 12, 1990 on Higher Education, later amended on July 20, 2001 (Journal of Laws, No. 65, item 385, as amended).

The Polish Accreditation Committee is an independent institution working to ensure and improve the quality of education.

The basic objectives of the Committee's activities are: ensuring compliance with the quality standards adopted for higher education, referring to the best models employed in the European and global educational area, and supporting public and non-public HEIs in the process of improving the quality of education, as well as building a culture of quality.

Since the quality and efficiency of education significantly contribute to the development of intellectual capital and civil society, the social good is the most important value guiding the Polish Accreditation Committee’s activity.

The Polish Accreditation Committee fulfills its mission by performing obligatory evaluations of curricula and formulating opinions on applications for granting authorization to conduct studies. It is of the upmost importance for the Committee that its opinions and assessments, as well as recommendations should leave space for autonomous initiatives promoting innovativeness of the teaching process and high quality culture of education.

Accreditation is the major method of assessing the quality of education at universities.

Its aim is to confirm whether the university or the program meets the educational quality standards defined by the accrediting institution, and to activate mechanisms of improving this quality at the university. Each accreditation includes two elements: self-evaluation prepared by the school and a visit of the Assessment Team appointed by the Accreditation Committee, which makes a decision on granting or refusing accreditation.
