Miguel Feldmann was born in Lisbon. He graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Lisbon Catholic University and attended the Institute of European Studies of the “Université Libre de Bruxelles”. He began his career as a lawyer and started functions as Advisor to the Portuguese Ombudsman in 1999. After having integrated the office of the Secretary of State of Internal Administration as legal advisor, in 2007, he returned to the Ombudsman’s Office in 2009. Between 2014 and 2015 he worked at the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in Geneva. He regularly participates in various activities for the promotion of human rights and international cooperation as an expert and trainer. In this capacity, he has been a speaker at seminars and has given training in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Central Asia. He is currently Head of Department of the Portuguese Ombudsman Office and Coordinator of the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture and ill-Treatment.
