A potted dragon – or how it makes sense

According to the traditional Chinese calendar, 2024 is the year of the dragon and it is believed that this year will bring new opportunities, changes and challenges. In cultures of the Far East, no other mythical creature is held in such reverence as the dragon. The dragon plant, also known as dracaena, resembles the legendary dragon in appearance. Its beautiful green leaves symbolize strength, wisdom and harmony - everything the dragon represents in Chinese tradition. In addition, dracaenas are resilient and can survive even unfavorable conditions, like dragons.

"Feel Good @ UEKat"

The "Adopt a dragon" campaign aims to promote mental and physical health by surrounding oneself with plants and increasing cultural awareness through the symbolism of the Chinese Year of the Dragon. By participating in the campaign, students can learn more about other cultures and nature and demonstrate responsibility and sensitivity by caring for a plant.

You can read more about the "Adopt a dragon" campaign on the project website.

The "Adopt a dragon" campaign is part of the broader NAWA-funded "Feel Good @ UEKat" project, which aims to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for Polish and international students.
