Declaration of accessibility

The University of Economics in Katowice declares to ensure the accessibility of its website in accordance with the provisions of the Act of April 4, 2019, on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. Declaration on accessibility applies to the website of the University of Economics in Katowice

State of digital accessibility

The website is partially compliant with the Act of April 4, 2019, on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. This is due to the incompatibilities or exemptions listed below:

  • films do not have subtitles for people with hearing impairments,
  • some files are not digitally available,
  • lack of proper headline structure for content,
  • not all photos posted on the site have additional descriptions for assistive devices, for the visually impaired,
  • static and interactive maps posted on the site either have no support for people with disabilities at all or limited support in the form of static descriptions.

Reasons for exemptions:

  • maps are exempt from the requirement to ensure accessibility,
  • the site had been designed before the digital accessibility act was implemented,
  • the videos had been published before the digital accessibility act was implemented.

The exemptions listed above will be systematically removed by the editorial team to the best of its ability.

Information on the procedure

Anyone has the right to request the accessibility of a digital website, mobile application or some of their elements. It is also possible to request that the information be made available through an alternative means of access, for example, by reading a digitally inaccessible document, describing the content of a film without an audio description, etc.

The request should include the details of the person making the request, an indication of the website or mobile application in question and the contact method. If an applicant reports the need to receive information through an alternative means of access, they should also specify the most convenient way to present the information. The public entity shall implement the request immediately, no later than within 7 days from the date of the request. If it is not possible to meet this deadline, the public entity shall immediately inform the applicant of this fact, including the date when it will be possible to fulfill the request, with the deadline not exceeding 2 months from the date of the request. If it is not possible to provide digital accessibility, the public entity may recommend an alternative way to access the information.

If the public entity refuses to comply with a request to provide accessibility or an alternative means of accessing information, an applicant may file a complaint on the provision of accessibility of a digital website, mobile application or their elements. Having completed the procedure indicated above, a request may also be submitted to the Commissioner for Cilivl Rights Protection.

Building entrance
The main entrance is accessible only to people without disabilities. The intercom button is located on the left side, but the entrance itself is inaccessible (stairs).

The entrance to the building for wheelchair users is located on the left side, at the back of the building, on the side of the fenced courtyard. The courtyard can be accessed by contacting reception – an intercom is located on the left side of the gate.

Reception – is located directly across from the main entrance, tel. 32-257-71-93.

Parking lot
Public parking. No designated spaces for people with mobility impairments.

Corridors
The building has 2 staircases. The corridors are wide, providing access to all rooms.

Elevator
The building has an elevator – to the right of the main entrance. The control panel is equipped with buttons marked in Braille. A voice message indicates the cabin's position and the doors' opening and closing.

Cloakroom
The cloakroom is located on the ground floor, 7 meters to the right of the main entrance.

Toilets
On each floor – on the left – there is a toilet adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments.

Adaptations in the building
The reception and direct visitor service areas are equipped with hearing-assistive induction loops.

You can enter the building with a service or guide dog.

Others
There is no sign language interpreter or online interpreter service available in the building.

Building A – Katowice, ul. Bogucicka 3

Building entrance
The building has 4 entrances. The main entrance, located on the side of Bogucicka Street, is accessible to people with mobility impairments. There are 2 passageways leading to the main entrance: accessible – to the right, near the entrance to the University's internal parking lot; and inaccessible – with stairs.

Reception – is located 3 meters from the main entrance, to the left, tel. 32-257-71-91.

Parking lot
Near the building, on Bogucicka Street, there is 1 marked parking space for people with disabilities. At the main entrance to the building, in the internal parking lot, there are 3 designated parking spaces for people with disabilities. At the rear entrance to the building, in the internal parking lot, there are 2 parking spaces for people with disabilities. These spaces are marked in white and blue. The entrance to the internal parking lot is possible after raising the barrier (telephone contact with the reception staff is required).

Corridors
The building has 4 staircases. The corridors are wide, providing access to all rooms.

Elevator
The building has 2 elevators located next to each other. The control panel is equipped with buttons marked in Braille. A voice message indicates the cabin's position and the doors' opening and closing.

Cloakroom
The cloakroom is located on the ground floor, 15 meters from the main entrance, on the left side.

Toilets
On each floor there is a toilet adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments (both women's and men's toilets).

Adaptations in the building
The reception, cloakroom and direct visitor service areas are equipped with hearing-assistive induction loops. A tiflographic plan is placed near the cloakroom.

Currently undergoing renovation. Access to the parking lot is possible upon telephone contact 32-257-71-91 (barrier). There are no designated parking spaces for people with disabilities located directly next to the building.

The building has 2 staircases. The corridors are wide, providing access to all rooms.

Cloakroom

Toilets
On each floor of the building, the men's toilets have separate toilets adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments. Women's toilets are without any adaptations.

Parking lot
Currently undergoing renovation. Access to the parking lot is possible upon telephone contact 32-257-71-91 (barrier). There are no designated parking spaces for people with disabilities located directly next to the building.

The building has 2 staircases. The corridors are wide, providing access to all rooms.

Elevator
None

Cloakroom
The pool locker rooms are located to the left of the entrance. They are adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments.

Toilets
There is a shower next to the pool and a coeducational toilet adapted for people with mobility impairments. There is no adapted toilet on the upper floors.

The reception is equipped with a hearing-assistive induction loop.

The swimming pool is adapted to enable people with disabilities to use it.

Parking lot
Parking is open to the public, accessible from 1 Maja Street (no designated spaces for people with mobility impairments).

Corridors
The corridors are wide enough to allow wheelchair mobility on any given floor. The passageway between buildings E and L is not suitable for people with mobility impairments.

Elevator
None

Cloakroom
The cloakroom for buildings E and L is shared and located in building L.

Toilets
Toilets are not adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments.

The cloakroom is located to the left, behind the reception.

A toilet adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments is located on the 2nd floor.

The parking lot is open to the public, accessible from 1 Maja Street (no designated spaces for people with mobility impairments).

Corridors
Corridors are wide enough to allow wheelchair mobility on any given floor. The passageway between buildings E and L is not adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments.

None

Cloakroom
There is a cloakroom in the building. It is not adapted for people with mobility impairments.

Reception – there is a separate reception for each block, tel: block A 32-257-79-01, block B 32-257-79-02, block C 32-257-79-03.

Parking lot
Near the building, there is one designated parking space for people with disabilities in the public parking lot.

Corridors
The building has 4 staircases and 2 elevators. Wide corridors allow people with mobility impairments to move around with ease.

Elevator

The spaces are located directly next to the building. Entrance to the building is possible from the level of the parking lot.

There are 4 elevators in the building. The elevator buttons are marked in Braille. A voice message indicates the cabin's position and the doors' opening and closing. (Note: the parking lot is marked as level 1, the ground floor/lobby is marked as level 2, the first floor is level 3, etc.).

There is a cloakroom in the building, 5 meters to the left of the information desk.

There is a coeducational toilet located in the lobby (level 2) and on the third floor (level 5), which is adapted to people with mobility impairments (note: heavy doors).

Between the free access area and the main lobby is an anti-theft security system for safeguarding the book collection.

There are 3 parking spaces for people with mobility impairments marked in white and blue to the right of the main entrance.

Corridors
Corridors and rooms allow people with mobility impairments to move freely around any given floor.

Elevator
The building has elevators adapted for people with mobility and visual impairments (Braille).

Cloakroom
There is a cloakroom in the building.

Toilets
The toilet adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments is located on the ground floor (you need to ask for a key in the cloakroom).

Adaptations in the building
The library has workstations for readers with mobility and visual impairments: auto-reader, Braille keyboard, enlarged PC keyboard, Braille printer, Super Nova Reader screen-reader and ZoomText (so-called "magnifier") are installed on the computer.

The center provides the assistance of trained librarians (selected staff members use basic sign language).

The center can provide readers with disabilities with digital copies of library materials. Journal articles and selected chapters of books are scanned for personal use. Librarians digitize the material using OCR technology for later listening.
