Katowice - facts and tips
Katowice is a capital city of Silesian Province located in southern Poland. It is the largest city of the Silesian Agglomeration, in Polish known as GOP (Upper Silesian Industrial Region), and one of the most important cultural, academic and economic centres in Poland.
Katowice is a dynamic city, which, having undergone a revitalization from a heavy industrial to cultural centre, became the Leader of 1,5 mln Silesian metropolis in this field.
In 2015 Katowice was accepted into the network of UNESCO Creative Cities as a City of Music.
In 2018 Katowice hosted the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24).
