The Faculty of Finance was established pursuant to the Statute of the University of Economics in Katowice dated 24 June 2021, replacing the College of Finance, which operated from 1 October 2019 to 31 August 2021. The Faculty originates from the former Faculty of Finance and Insurance, which had existed since 2002.

The main objective of the Faculty is to conduct, integrate and develop research related to finance in the broad sense, including corporate finance, public finance, banking, financial markets, insurance, accounting, information systems in business and finance, investments, economic and financial analysis, quantitative methods in finance, and law. The Faculty of Finance comprises 9 departments and employs approximately 90 academic staff members.

The academic staff of the Faculty of Finance contribute to the teaching processes within the College of Studies, mainly in subjects related to finance and accounting. They also teach at the Doctoral School and in postgraduate programmes, thus educating future professionals in the fields of finance and accounting.
