Polish National Conference "Business in culture – culture in business"

Each year the Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie" together with the University of Economics in Katowice organize the Polish National Conference "Business in culture – culture in business". 

The conference aims to show the current problems with the functioning of cultural entities, in the context of the modalities of turbulent environment, where the focus on the dissemination and promotion of culture in society is decreasing.

Contests in the following categories are carried out during the conference:

  • contest for the best research paper,
  • contest for the best poster from among those presented in the hall in front of the CNTI Auditorium.

Articles, presentations and posters must be related directly to the theme of the conference, in particular to the current keynote topic. Winners shall receive relevant certificates and gifts from sponsors and the Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie".

It is possible to participate in the conference actively (with a paper) or passively (without a paper). The best papers from among the submitted ones shall be published and presented during the conference. The Program Council shall decide whether to publish the papers or not. The organizers also allow for the publication of papers in the English language.

Language of the conference and publication shall be the Polish and English languages. All participants shall receive a certificate of participation in the conference.

The Folk Association “Silesianie” is a co-organizer of the events. The University of Economics in Katowice took the honorary patronage over the Conference and the events surrounding it.

Trojak [Trio]

Each year the Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie" together with the University of Economics in Katowice and the Folk Association "Silesianie" organize the All-Poland Silesian Dance Contest "Trojak" [Trio].

During the event, the Ensemble host representatives of dance centers from Poland, while showing the form of Silesian dance to the residents of Upper-Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis.

The aim of the contest is to: improve knowledge of Silesian region dances, protect the cultural heritage of the region, arouse the interest in Silesian dances  among children and young people, create the possibilities of active leisure for children and adults, and also enable the fans of Silesian culture to meet each other and talk about the achievements as regards Silesian dances.

Śląski Diament [Silesian Diamond]

Each year the Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie" together with the University of Economics in Katowice and the Folk Association "Silesianie" also organize the All-Poland Polish Dance Contest "Śląski Diament" [Silesian Diamond].

The objectives of the event shall be: protecting the national heritage, improving knowledge of Polish ballroom dances, shaping aesthetics and arousing the interests of children and young people with this form of dance, creating possibilities of active leisure for children and young people, sharing knowledge and bringing together dance groups, improving knowledge of the Polish dance folklore and promoting the City of Katowice and the University of Economics in Katowice.

Seminars and workshops

The Ensemble also organizes seminars and workshops relating to music and dance intended for dance teachers and instructors.
