The Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice
Developed in response to dynamic global changes and growing uncertainty about the future of higher education, the new strategy is based on in-depth analyses, empirical data, and a structured consultation process. Its primary objective is to effectively address both current and emerging challenges faced by the University, while strengthening its long-term development potential. The document also reflects recommendations issued by international accreditation bodies.
The strategy was prepared using an evidence-based management approach, integrating analyses of internal and external data (inside-out and outside-in perspectives) with the strategic reflection of the University’s leadership. The diagnostic phase relied on data from institutional information repositories and reporting systems, as well as national and international databases. Key sources included the POL-on system, data from Statistics Poland (GUS), the ELAB system, and comparative analyses of higher education institutions across Europe.
The adopted methodology reflects contemporary standards of strategic planning in higher education, where institutional strategies are increasingly grounded in empirical analysis, benchmarking, and forecasting, rather than predominantly in consultative workshops. This approach enables a more objective assessment of the University’s position, its development potential, and the realistic conditions shaping its future growth.
The Strategy of the University of Economics in Katowice for the years 2026-2033 was formally adopted by a resolution of the University Senate on 18 December 2025.
