The Journal of Economics and Management (JEM) is an internationally recognized, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary academic journal indexed in Scopus. The journal publishes high-quality, methodologically rigorous research that advances theory and practice in economics, management, business, and finance, with particular emphasis on issues of contemporary relevance and international significance.
JEM provides a platform for scholars and practitioners to present original theoretical, conceptual, and empirical research, as well as rigorous review articles, contributing to the development of economic and managerial sciences. The journal encourages interdisciplinary perspectives and welcomes studies integrating insights from information systems and digital technologies, organizational studies, sociology, and communication, provided they are clearly related to economic, financial, business, or managerial phenomena.
The journal aims to foster academic debate, promote methodological rigor and academic integrity, support the international exchange of ideas, and facilitate the translation of research findings into practical applications. Through the publication of innovative and relevant research, JEM aims to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and to enhance understanding of complex economic and managerial phenomena in a global context.
Types of Manuscripts
JEM publishes the following types of manuscripts:
- Original research articles presenting novel theoretical frameworks, models, or empirical findings.
- Review articles offering systematic, critical, or integrative reviews of the literature that identify research gaps and future research directions.
- Research notes reporting concise empirical results, methodological innovations, or preliminary findings of significant scholarly value.
Published contributions include empirical studies with practical implications, theoretical and methodological analyses, and systematic literature reviews addressing key challenges and emerging trends in economics, management, and finance.
Publication Model and Peer Review
JEM publishes one issue per year and operates under a continuous publication model.
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers do not know the identities of the authors, and authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. The standard timeframe is up to 35 days for the initial review and up to 20 days for subsequent review rounds. Peer review is conducted voluntarily, and reviewers do not receive financial remuneration.
Open Access and Fees
JEM is published in open access.
Authors are not required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC).
Publisher and Journal History
JEM is the official journal of the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. It was founded in 2004.

Polish Government Financial SupportThe journal is co-financed in the years 2022-2024 by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland in the framework of the ministerial programme “Development of Scientific Journals” (RCN) on the basis of contract no. RCN/SP/0244/2021/1 concluded on 1 December 2022 and being in force until 30 November 2024.
