On March 14, 2024, the Electoral College, representing the community of the University of Economics in Katowice, unanimously elected the University’s rector for the years 2024-2028. Prof. Celina M. Olszak, Ph.D., D.Sc. will assume this position for her second term.
It is with deep respect and gratitude that I would like to extend my thanks to the entire academic community for the trust shown in me and for electing me to the position of rector of our University for the next term of 2024-2028.
Your support is not only an honor but also a commitment to fulfilling this responsible and honorable role. Your faith in my competence and commitment serves as a tremendous motivation for further action and embarking on new challenges. I want to assure you that the doors of my office will always be open to any member of our community who wishes to share their ideas, concerns or suggestions. Communication and dialogue will be the foundation of our efforts for the betterment of the University.
In the passing term, we have achieved a lot together, for which I sincerely thank you. I extend my gratitude to the staff, students, and doctoral students for their collaboration, commitment, mutual respect and understanding.
At the same time, I am convinced that together we can accomplish much more. I believe that together, we can make our university a recognized academic center, not only in the region but also nationally; a place of which each of us can be proud, and where every student and employee can pursue their passions, ideas, and innovations.
"I focus on development and a creative and entrepreneurial community" - these words are not only the motto of my electoral program but also a commitment that I want to make to you.
I am deeply convinced that only through mutual development, continuous improvement, and investment in our talents can we achieve success and contribute to the sustainable development of our Alma Mater.
I want us to create together an open, interdisciplinary environment that encourages experimentation, risk-taking, and harnessing the creative potential inherent in each of us.
I aim to build a space where academic entrepreneurship is not just an empty slogan but a real opportunity to transform ideas into tangible ventures.

The actions taken so far by the Rector, as well as the goals set for the new term, are based on the development of the University of Economics in Katowice as a recognized academic center at home and abroad, with high prestige of studies and all forms of education. Another important aspect is the creation of the University as an attractive place for work and study, while fostering good relations and developing cooperation with the socio-economic environment.
