Marzena Czarnecka is an Associate Professor (Doctor habilitatus) of Economic Sciences, a legal advisor, and the Head of the Department of Energy Transition at the University of Economics in Katowice. She has also lectured at a number of European universities, including Saarland University (Germany) and the University of Granada (Spain). Specialising in energy law, regulatory law, competition law, consumer protection, and labour law, Professor Czarnecka has successfully combined an academic career with legal practice for more than three decades. She has advised major energy companies, previously served as in-house counsel in the energy sector, and managed numerous national and international research projects. She has also delivered lectures at leading universities and international scientific conferences across Europe. Professor Czarnecka is a long-serving judge of the Disciplinary Court of the Regional Chamber of Legal Advisors in Katowice and a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and the Polish Association of Energy Law Lawyers. She is the author or co-author of more than 100 scientific publications in the fields of energy law, energy markets, energy transition, decarbonisation, competition law, and consumer protection. From 2023 to 2025, Professor Czarnecka served as Minister of Industry in the Third Cabinet of Donald Tusk. She currently runs her own law firm in Warsaw and serves on the Supervisory Boards of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK). In addition, she advises the Polish Government and the European Parliament on matters relating to energy, industrial policy, and regulatory affairs.

Marcin Kraśniewski holds a Ph.D. in Law and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Energy Transition at the University of Economics in Katowice. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pavia (Italy) and maintains long-standing international research and academic cooperation with leading universities across Europe and South America. His research focuses on public economic law, European economic law, energy law, economic regulation, administrative law and procedure, and the regulation of infrastructure sectors. He is the author of more than 60 publications and leads and participates in numerous national and international research projects concerning energy transition, energy justice, energy markets, and regulatory governance. Alongside his academic career, Dr Kraśniewski has been professionally involved in the Polish energy sector for more than a decade, holding expert, advisory, managerial, executive board, and supervisory board positions. He regularly contributes as an expert to legislative and regulatory work in the Polish Parliament and participates in the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. Dr Kraśniewski is the initiator and organiser of the International Academic Conference Energy Justice & Energy Transition (since 2023). He serves as a Member of the Executive Committee of the European Federation of Energy Law Associations (EFELA), based in Paris. He is also a member of the World Energy Council, accredited to the United Nations, the Polish Association of European Law, and several academic societies and professional organisations in the energy sector. He previously served as Secretary and researcher at the Climate and Energy Laboratory of the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS) at the University of Warsaw and represented Poland as a delegate at the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP).

Katarzyna Gromek-Broc is a Professor at the University of Pavia (Italy). She has also held academic appointments and conducted research at universities in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Colombia. Professor Gromek-Broc specialises in international economic law, European Union law, commercial law, corporate governance, and sustainability. She maintains extensive international academic cooperation with leading universities and research institutions across Europe and beyond. Her research focuses on international trade law, corporate governance, environmental, social and governance (ESG) regulation, sustainability, energy transition, and the legal aspects of responsible business conduct. She is the author and editor of numerous books and scientific publications published by leading international academic publishers. Professor Gromek-Broc regularly serves as an editor, reviewer, and member of scientific committees for international journals and conferences. She is actively involved in interdisciplinary research on the legal challenges of the green transition, sustainable development, and international economic governance. She also collaborates with international organisations, universities, and research networks promoting comparative legal studies and global academic cooperation.
