With the inauguration of the academic year 2021/2022, the University of Economics in Katowice begins the celebration of the 85th anniversary of its founding under the slogan "Power of unity". On this momentous occasion, the University not only celebrates the anniversary of its establishment, but also emphasizes the vital role played by the members of the academic community.

The University of Economics in Katowice was founded in December 1936. On January 11, 1937 the first inauguration of the academic year took place - several dozen students started their education at the Faculty of Industrial Organization. 

Our Alma Mater is one of the oldest universities in the Upper Silesia region and one of five public universities of economics in the country. It is also the largest university in the region educating in the field of social and economic sciences.
