Department employees participation in the 14th International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD 2026)

The 14th International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD 2026) took place in Rome on September 9–10, 2026, organized by the European Center of Sustainable Development (ECSDEV) in collaboration with CIT University (Canadian Institute of Technology). The conference’s overarching theme was "Creating a Unified Foundation for Sustainable Development: Research, Practice and Education."

ICSD is a recurring event for researchers in the field of sustainable development, organized in Rome by the European Center of Sustainable Development. Aligning with the goal of building a shared foundation for research, practice, and education, this year’s edition focused on how scientific research findings can tangibly support decision-making within enterprises, public institutions, and universities. From the perspective of the Department’s research, the "Economic Sustainability" track was of particular importance. It covered topics such as financing the sustainable transition, green financial instruments, corporate economic resilience, and sustainable business models. Dr hab. Joanna Błach, Prof. UE, served as the session chair for one of the sessions within this track.

During the conference, members of the Department presented the following research:

  • dr hab. Joanna Błach, prof. UE, dr inż. Iwona Gorzeń-Mitka, dr Małgorzata Lipowicz: Stakeholder Pressure and Financial Outcomes of Corporate ESG Transformation – Evidence from Poland;
  • dr inż. Iwona Gorzeń-Mitka, dr Maria Gorczyńska, prof. UE: Navigating ESG Complexity: The Cynefin Framework as a Strategic Tool for Sustainable Decision-Making;
  • dr Małgorzata Lipowicz: Corporate Debt Securities Focused on Sustainable Development – The Financial Perspective of Listed Companies.

The research presented at the conference was conducted as part of the project "Corporate ESG Transformation – Financial and Managerial Perspectives," co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the "Regional Initiative of Excellence" program, and the project "Financial and Organizational Resilience of Enterprises Amidst Environmental Complexity," funded by the subsidy for maintaining and developing research potential.
