Expert lecture entitled "Sustainable development and running businesses. Financial, operational and legal aspects".
On December 4, 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting dr Maciej Gomółka and Monika Jasińska from KPMG, who, at the invitation of dr Agnieszka Skręt-Bednarz, gave a lecture entitled "Sustainable development and running businesses. Financial, operational and legal aspects". The meeting aimed to introduce students to issues related to sustainable development and its impact on business activity, with particular emphasis on aspects that are necessary for the effective implementation of sustainable development strategies in business.
Dr Maciej Gomółka is a recognized expert in the field of climate change and sustainable development, with many years of experience in the energy industry, especially in the area of emissions trading and consulting for companies in the field of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting. His doctoral dissertation focused on the directions of transformation of Poland's energy policy in the context of the climate and energy policy of the European Union.
During the lecture, which was addressed to students:
- III semester of bachelor's studies as part of a lecture by dr Maria Gorczyńska, prof. EU, Corporate Finance and
- First semester of master's studies as part of the lecture by dr hab. Joanna Błach, prof. UE, Corporate Financial Strategies
in the field of Finance and Accounting, dr Gomółka shared his experiences regarding the impact of sustainable development on both our daily lives and the activities of international enterprises. He paid special attention to the challenges faced by companies implementing sustainable development strategies, as well as the role of ESG reporting in the context of transparency and corporate responsibility. He also emphasized the importance of a holistic approach that includes ecological, social and corporate governance aspects in order to create long-term value for both companies and society.
The lecture was a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge about contemporary challenges related to sustainable development and its impact on finance and financial strategies in various sectors of the economy.
