About the Programme
The Blended Intensive Programme “Future Skills for Beautiful & Sustainable Regions” is an international and interdisciplinary initiative designed for Bachelor, Master and PhD students.
The programme focuses on developing future-oriented competencies in the context of regional transformation inspired by the principles of the New European Bauhaus – combining sustainability, aesthetics, and social inclusion.
Participants have engaged in a dynamic learning environment that integrates theory with practice, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.
Programme Structure
Virtual Component
The online component introduces participants to the main themes of the programme, including:
- key concepts of sustainable regional transformation
- principles of the New European Bauhaus
- programme structure and expectations
On-site Component
The on-site part consists of an intensive programme including:
- interactive workshops
- decision-making simulation
- fieldwork and urban observation
- plenary sessions and expert lectures
- group project work
- final presentations
Participants will work in international teams to develop innovative solutions addressing real regional challenges.

- active participation in all components (online and on-site)

Lecturers: Wiktoria Gałecka

Wiktoria Maria Gałecka, M.Sc. Eng., is a Research Assistant at the Department of Transport, University of Economics in Katowice. Her research interests focus on sustainable urban mobility, public transport economics, and logistics. She is currently a team member in the international Horizon Europe project "SUMODO" (Sustainable Urban Mobility Development in Outskirts).
Lecturers: Dr. Hanna Kelm

Dr. Hanna Kelm is a faculty member at the Department of Public Management and Social Sciences at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. Her research interests include social policy, family and senior policy, the provision of social services, the diagnosis of social needs, effectiveness in social policy, the design of social services at national and local levels, qualitative and quantitative research, as well as the functioning of welfare states and their analysis, the effectiveness of improving the quality of life.
Dr. Hanna Kelm conducts both national and international research projects funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW). She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Polish and English.
She is the author of numerous monographs, collective works, and articles published in leading national and international journals. She also collaborates with public and social organizations and conducts research on the evaluation of European funds expenditure.
Lecturers: Dr. Agnieszka Majorek-Gdula

Dr. Agnieszka Majorek-Gdula is an Assistant Professor at the University of Economics in Katowice. Her research focuses on urban and regional development, urban voids, land-use change, and sustainable spatial planning. She is particularly interested in the use of GIS tools and spatial analysis methods in urban and regional research. She investigates how underutilized urban spaces can be transformed into valuable resources that support more sustainable patterns of urban development and more efficient land use. Her research also addresses land-use transformations in European Union countries from the perspective
of sustainable development. She is a member of the Polish Society of Town Planners (TUP) and the European Regional Science Association (ERSA). At the University of Economics in Katowice, she combines research and teaching activities and serves as the academic advisor to the CityInSight Student Research Club.
Lecturers: Marcin Palys

Marcin Palys – academic teacher of the Department of EconomicInformatics at the University of Economics in Katowice, entrepreneurassociated with the gaming industry, educator and member of the
Esports Association. His main scientific interests are game basedlearning courses , education with the use of modern technology and theimplementation of innovations in education. He has participated in
plenty of scientific conferences abroad, including Hawaii, Lisbon, Athens and Singapore. He has worked with many organizations in the field of education, including the METIS Teacher Training Center and the TOP YOUNG 100 program, as well as numerous student organizationsand science clubs . Privately, he is an esports enthusiast, a fan ofrole-playing games and an actor of improvisational theater.
Lecturers: Dr. Adam Polko

Dr. Adam Polko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spatial and Environmental Economics at the University of Economics in Katowice. His research interests focus on urban economics and real estate economics. He led the research project “The Economics of Urban Commons,” funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) of Poland.
He is a member of European Regional Science Association (ERSA), The International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) and Regional Urban and Architectural Commission of the Silesian Region. He advises local and regional government authorities on the preparation of regeneration programmes and housing strategies. He serves as the Director of the postgraduate programmes “Real Estate Valuation” and “Real Estate Management” at the University of Economics in Katowice.
His passion is long-distance running (he has completed 22 marathons). During his running sessions, he creates videos about cities, which can be watched on the YouTube channel titled "Urban Studies Through the Marathon Method".
Lecturers: Rafał Rydzewski

Researcher and lecturer at the University of Economics in Katowice, where he also serves as the Program Manager for Management. In his work, he analyzes the mechanisms of digital transformation that build competitive advantage and resilience in modern organizations. He has developed his academic and teaching experience at international institutions, including in Switzerland (ZHAW), Italy, and Latvia, as well as through projects funded by NAWA and the Erasmus+ program. Privately, he is an enthusiast of active recreation and a fan of RPG and FPS games.
