Dr. Rafał Buła

Rafał Buła, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Investment, Faculty of Finance, University of Economics in Katowice, where he serves as the Program Manager for Finance and Accounting for Business. He received his Ph.D. in economics and finance, with a doctoral dissertation on fractal market theory awarded by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority and the PROGRES 3 consortium. His primary research interests encompass fractal analysis, the efficient market hypothesis, investment efficiency evaluation, long-term discounting, and sustainable finance. Academically, he lectures on corporate finance, financial and international investments, and has completed international scientific research traineeships and visiting lecturer assignments at various foreign institutions, including the University of Southampton and Széchenyi István University in Győr, while also contributing to Blended Intensive Programmes. Having acted as an auxiliary supervisor for successfully defended doctoral theses, his mentoring objective is to assist Ph.D. students in structuring and developing their research.
Dr. Eng. Petya Gruewa

Dr. Eng. Petya Gruewa is a structural engineer and Chief Assistant Professor in the Department of Steel, Timber and Plastic Structures in the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her PhD research focused on the structural behavior of historic timber buildings. At the university, she guides structural design courses in both timber and steel structures.
Petya’s main professional interests include the preservation of immovable cultural heritage, sustainable construction, and the utilization of natural and ecological building materials. She brings valuable hands-on experience in leading interdisciplinary projects involving the survey and documentation of historic structures and building crafts, notably through her work with the NGO Meshtra - Traditional Knowledge and Crafts.
As a mentor, Petya is excited to encourage PhD students in managing interdisciplinary challenges.
Dr. Franziska Matthes

After earning her PhD in Communication Science at the University of Erfurt, she joined the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. She initially led a DAAD-funded project aimed at enhancing the internationalization of doctoral candidates, before taking on the role of Scientific Advisor at the Bauhaus Research School - the central Graduate School of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
She is actively involved in teaching academic writing and presentation skills, as well as the responsible use of AI, integrating these topics across interdisciplinary courses for students, doctoral candidates, lecturers, and administrative staff.
As researcher and project coordinator in science management, she has organised numerous international and interdisciplinary academic conferences and workshops, as well as public and sector-specific events. In 2024, she initiated the PhD Exchange Group within the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance – a readily accessible opportunity for PhD students from all partner universities to network, exchange ideas, and discuss challenges of the PhD.
Dr. Eng. Albina Toçilla

Ph.D. Eng. Albina Toçilla is a telecommunications engineer and academic professional specializing in VANET, IoT, Intelligent Systems, Urban Innovation, Digital Twin Modelling, and Smart Cities. She holds a Master's degree from the Faculty of Information Technology at Tirana Polytechnic University (2017, with excellent results) and a PhD earned through an interdisciplinary "Double Degree" program between Polis University, Albania, and the University of Ferrara, Italy (December 2024). With over seven years of experience in higher education, she currently serves as Head of Information Technology Department at Polis University, where she leads cross-functional teams, drives high-impact research, and is widely recognized for her academic and industry leadership.
