The lecture was attended by academics, students and all those interested in the issues of international business and management.
During the lecture the audience learned how new theories about innovation are created. The speaker, used the theoretical achievements of management sciences and his own experience, developed an institution-based view that has become an influential theoretical perspective in management literature. Prof. Mike Peng introduced the nature of management theory building and identify four key components of theoretical innovation: inspiration, resources, differentiation and integration.
Prof. Mike W. Peng, Ph.D. - the Jindal Chair of Global Strategy at the University of Texas at Dallas, National Science Foundation (NSF) Career Award winner and a Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the Asia Academy of Management (AAOM). His research has investigated firm strategies in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and North and South America. With more than 160 articles and 5 books, he is one of the most prolific and most influential scholars in global strategy. Used in more than 40 countries, his textbooks are world market leaders that have been translated into Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish. He has more than 50,000 Google citations. His work has been cited by both the United Nations and the World Bank. Served on the editorial boards of AMJ, AMP, AMR, GSJ, JIBS, JMS, JWB, and SMJ; and guest-edited a special issue for JMS. Currently Vice President of AAOM. Professor Peng’s consulting clients include AstraZeneca, Berlitz, Canada Research Chair, MTR Hong Kong, Nationwide, Routledge, SAFRAN, Texas Instruments, UK Government Office for Science, and World Bank. His numerous honors include a US Small Business Administration Best Paper Award, a (lifetime) Distinguished Scholar Award from the Southwestern Academy of Management, and a (lifetime) Scholarly Contribution Award from the International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR).
