Second stage of the transition to online education

According to the strategy of the University, we are beginning the second stage of the transition to online education, which provides the possibility of conducting classes, including lectures, exercises, laboratories and other with the active participation of an academic teacher for whole groups of students and PhD students.

In order to create the possibility of interactive contact starting from 30th March 2020, academic teachers will use at least one of the following forms of contact during their classes:

  1. connection with a group of students / PhD students during classes via Google Meet, Google Hangout Chat or alternative platforms such as Moodle, Microsoft Teams, Skype and others. To begin with, a brief online meeting of 15-20 minutes will introduce you to the the currently discussed issues. It will be also possible to talk to the teacher and ask questions.
  2. providing videos with information about each classes, including the hours during which teachers will be available online to make consultations. Please, carefully follow messages from teachers sent by e-mail to addresses in the edu.uekat.pl domain, via the platform for conducting classes or by information placed in the employee's business card on the University's website
  3. the use of other forms of interactive communication with students/ PhD students depending on the specificity of the subject and available IT tools. Recommended are solutions that will ensure realization of the learning outcomes, specified in the syllabus, using online resources by placing links to their content on the platform.

To remind you, according to §15 point 2 of the Academic Regulations, the student is required to attend classes, laboratory classes, foreign language classes and diploma seminars which given the circumstances applies to online forms of conducting the above mentioned forms of studying.

We are aware that direct contact with the teacher, during which you can get immediate response to arising questions and clarify doubts, is especially valuable. The current situation is a challenge for all of us, we are making every effort to provide the best study conditions, taking into account both the recommendations of students and PhD students, as well as teachers. I am convinced that this cooperative effort related to the transfer of education at the University to the virtual environment will result in maintaining high quality education and ensure full implementation of the assumed learning outcomes.

In case of any difficulties, please visit the Information Center website, where instructions, explanations of errors and problems are published, as well as answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ).

We consider the time of national quarantine as a transitional period during which good practices and valuable tips will be collected  to allow us to optimize e-learning at our University in the future.
