We are proud to announce that the Jury of the Best Doctoral Dissertation Competition, organized by Polish Economic Publishing (Polskie Wydawnictwo Ekonomiczne – PWE) and the editorial board of the monthly journal Przegląd Ustawodawstwa Gospodarczego, has awarded first place in this year’s edition of the Competition to dr Agnieszka Cybulska-Bienioszek from the Department of Business Law. The awarded dissertation, titled "Pre-packaged liquidation in bankruptcy proceedings", was defended with distinction in November 2023. The supervisor of the dissertation was prof. dr hab. Aleksander Witosz, also from the Department of Business Law.
The competition accepted doctoral theses on topics in the fields of business law, commercial law, civil law, copyright law, banking law, financial law, and administrative law, defended at public and non-public universities between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024.
In selecting the winners, the Jury considered the following criteria in particular: the academic quality of the work, originality of the topic, selection of relevant literature and case law, correctness and appropriateness of the research methods used, and the linguistic and editorial standard of the thesis.
The first-place prize includes either the publication of the dissertation as a printed book by PWE or a monetary award of 5,000 PLN and the publication of an article based on the thesis in the journal Przegląd Ustawodawstwa Gospodarczego.
