In the first week of January, sunny Athens hosted the participants of the international SILWERS project at the inaugural partners' meeting. The SILWERS project (Seniors Artificial Intelligence Learning – Well Educated and Risk Secure) was designed to introduce older adults to the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and increase their awareness of cybersecurity. The initiative aims to equip seniors with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and informed use of digital technologies, taking into account their specific needs and limitations.
The first phase of the project involves analyzing the educational needs of seniors in the areas of AI and cybersecurity. During the meeting, at the Skills Anticipation Workshops, the partners developed methods and defined the thematic scope of research into the educational needs of the project’s beneficiaries. Topics such as which teaching methods to choose for the 55+ age group and how to motivate older adults to share experiences with other participants were among the many issues discussed.
These discussions took place during Expert Forums on AI and Cybersecurity, which included external experts such as representatives of the Greek government and non-governmental organizations. The outcomes of these forums will help partners design innovative educational content and create an online platform for educators.
The SILWERS project is funded under the Erasmus+ KA220-ADU program – Cooperation Partnerships in Adult Education. The University of Economics in Katowice is implementing the project in partnership with four international institutions, led by Háskólinn á Akureyri (Iceland). The other partners include the University of Economics in Katowice (Poland), Social Cooperative Enterprise Drosostalida (Greece), Vzdelávací centrum Hello s.r.o. (Czech Republic), and TSecurity ehf (Iceland).
