The third International Congress on Quality of Education took place in Katowice, the European City of Science, from October 23rd to 25th, 2024. Hosted by universities within the Academic Consortium, including the University of Economics in Katowice and the Silesian Museum, the event gathered experts in quality assurance, accreditation, internationalization, and educational innovation.
This year's Congress provided a space for reflection on the quality of education at an international level. Participants had the opportunity to share experiences and best practices in the internationalization of education, the outcomes of international educational projects, and innovative teaching methods successfully implemented by Polish and foreign universities. An important topic of the Congress was also the discussion of the implementation of the European Universities initiative by many Polish universities. Other key issues that were at the center of our participants' interest were the matters of double degrees, European diplomas, student and staff mobility, and building strong international partnerships around strategic aspects of education.
The University of Economics in Katowice was involved in the organization of eight events, which took place on the University campus and at the Silesian Museum.
On the first day, a meeting of Curators and Managers with the UE Katowice Authorities took place to discuss the development of the educational offer and study programs. Throughout the day, ICEQ participants also had the opportunity to visit the Welcome Point, a service center for international students, doctoral students, and staff, which, in keeping with the saying "Always welcome," is a friendly and accessible place throughout the entire period of study or employment.
On October 24th, there was a lot going on. In the afternoon, we met at the University's Center for Modern Information Technologies for a lecture entitled "Gamification as a method of achieving and measuring learning outcomes," which was delivered by Wiktoria Gałecka and Jakub Krężel. On the same day, panel discussions and lectures with the participation of both students and lecturers from the UE Katowice took place at the Silesian Museum:
- "The impact of international accreditation on improving the quality of education – practical experiences in selected disciplines" with the participation of dr Marcin Baron,
- "Internationalization, teaching, and quality of education from the perspective of student government" by Stanisław Wiśniewski,
- "Student participation in the process of ensuring and improving the quality of education" by Martyna Kozak.
On the last day of the congress, the UE Katowice organized two meetings within the framework of the congress:
- "Erasmus+ as the key to future career" – by International Relations Office,
- "The brain during teaching and learning" by Prof. Maciej Błaszak, Anna Konon.
