On October 12, in Auditorium A, the inauguration ceremony of the academic year 2023/2024 was held for students of the University of Economics of the Third Age (UETW).
Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with External Environment dr hab. Robert Wolny, prof. UE, officially opened the new academic year. Joining the ceremony were members of the appointed Lifelong Learning Center Program Councils and UETW, dr hab. Anna Adamus-Matuszyńska, prof. UE, dr Bartłomiej J. Gabryś, dr Łukasz Szewczyk and Ms. Hanna Micińska. The inaugural lecture was delivered by dr hab. Anna Adamus-Matuszyńska, prof UE.
Our University Choir graced the ceremony with their fantastic performance of "Gaude Mater Polonia " and songs from the movies the Lord of the Rings and A Star is Born.
The ceremony was a perfect opportunity to present our educational offer aimed at seniors in the winter semester, including Thursday lectures, language, sports and computer classes, and a program of cultural events.
Our senior students can enjoy language classes, i.e. English, German, Spanish or Russian at three different proficiency levels. Lovers of Russian/French culture and language will continue their activities. Thanks to the cooperation with the Academic Sports Association (AZS) of the University of Silesia in Katowice, seniors can participate in free classes at the swimming pool, including improvement and learning of swimming and water aerobics, as well as general physical exercise at the gym. Cultural events, concerts, excursions and travel meetings are also included, such as the already traditional Christmas Fair excursion.
