Inter-University Inauguration of the Academic Year, held for the second time on September 29, 2023 at the National Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Radio in Katowice under the theme "The Year of Science in the Silesian Province" the inaugural lecture entitled "Andante moderato. The melancholy of the Academy" was delivered by Prof. Tadeusz Sławek, Ph.D.
The theme of the event referred to the Silesian Provincial Parliament’s announcement of 2023 as the Year of Science in the Silesian Province. This year’s ceremony was also preceded by a solemn march through the streets of the city by the rectoral retinues, accompanied by folk groups, and crowned by a dignified concert.
The inaugural ceremony was highlighted by a splendid musical setting by academ- ic choirs:
- Choir of the Institute of Musical Arts at the University of Silesia, conducted by Prof. Aleksandra Zeman,
- Academic Choir of the Silesian Univer- sity of Technology under the direction of Tomasz Giedwiłło,
- Choir of the Silesian Medical Universi- ty in Katowice under the direction of Marta Zielińska,
- Choir of the University of Economics in Katowice under the direction of Michał Brożek,
- Silent Choir of the University of Sile- sia under the direction of Anna Wojtas-Rduch.
