On 29 June 2026, the official closing ceremony of another edition of the Uni Buddy programme took place. It was a special occasion for reflection, appreciation and inspiring conversations about the future. The official certificates were presented to the participants by Professor Wojciech Dyduch, Vice-Rector for Education and International Cooperation, and Edyta Lachowicz-Santos, Director of the Internationalisation Office. This year’s volunteers took part in the event, which was organised by the Welcome Point team.
During the ceremony, all volunteers received official certificates honoring their hard work and dedication. In his speech, Prof. Dyduch highlighted the importance of volunteering in today’s job market. The skills gained while working in a multicultural team are highly valued by employers, especially in large international corporations.
The University authorities and Welcome Point staff also expressed their special appreciation to the volunteers and presented them with certificates in recognition of their support in organising the prestigious 2nd BAUHAUS4EU Forum. Their commitment, availability, openness and readiness to help were crucial to the smooth running of the event and contributed significantly to its success. Thanks to their support, guests felt well looked after, and the entire programme was delivered in a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
Distinctions for the Most Active Uni Buddy
While we appreciate every single volunteer, a few students went above and beyond in their helpfulness and activity during the academic year 2025/2026. Special awards for their outstanding support were given to:

The official part of the event concluded with casual conversations about the past few months and plans for the future, accompanied by a meal together at a restaurant. The meeting was organized by the Welcome Point team.
About the Uni Buddy Program
Welcome Point at the University of Economics in Katowice was established to help students from all over the world feel safe and comfortable here. It is the Uni Buddies who make this place a success. They are students at our University (both from Poland and abroad, including Ukraine, Egypt, Mexico, and Slovakia), who volunteer to help new students find their way in Katowice and at the university.
Volunteers help with everyday tasks, give guided tours of the city, and work with the Welcome Point team to organize interesting social and educational events. One of these is the famous Global Village, where international students showcase the culture and cuisine of their home countries.
