Presentation of statues of the fourth edition of the Outstanding Alumni of the UE Katowice competition

On January 13, 2025, during the University of Economics in Katowice Anniversary, a formal ceremony was held to present statues to the laureates of the fourth edition of the "Outstanding Alumni" competition. The awards were presented by HM the Rector, prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak, and the President of the Alumni Association, dr inż. Kamila Bartuś.

The laureates of the fourth edition of the "Outstanding Alumni of the University of Economics in Katowice" competition are:

In the Professional Category - Dariusz Mazurkiewicz
In the Social Category - Tomasz Konik
In the Academic Category - prof. dr hab. Krystyna Jędralska
In the Rising Star Category - Kamil Lorek

At the conclusion of this part of the ceremony, the awardees delivered speeches:

"I would like to express my immense gratitude for being honored with the Outstanding Graduate Award from the University of Economics in Katowice [...]. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the jury members for taking the time to review my achievements and for their positive evaluation. Special thanks go to those with whom I had the opportunity and privilege to collaborate [...]. The award I received today is an extraordinary honor for me because it comes from a community of which I have been a member for over 50 years," - said prof. dr hab. Krystyna Jędralska.

"I would like to refer to the Rector’s speech. The University of Economics in Katowice opened up a sea of opportunities for me, and I strive to make the most of them. I am deeply grateful and moved by this honor. I am extremely proud to be a graduate of this University," - said Tomasz Konik.

"I think it’s worth highlighting something I believe I gained from this University—openness and perseverance. These values were mentioned several times in various speeches. Perseverance is particularly important in building innovation because it’s not the first idea that matters, but the long-term, dedicated effort. I sincerely thank you for this recognition, especially the Department of Banking and Financial Markets, with whom we collaborate. I would like to dedicate this award to my son," - stated Dariusz Mazurkiewicz.

"What we do for ourselves dies with us, but what we do for the world remains immortal. These words by Albert Pike have become my life motto. I am profoundly grateful to the jury, the organizers of this competition, and the staff of the Department of Public Management and Social Sciences, led by Professor Aldona Frączkiewicz-Wronka, who support my initiatives," - emphasized Kamil Lorek.

The sponsor of the statuettes for the fourth edition of the Outstanding Graduates of the University of Economics in Katowice Competition was Bank Pekao S.A.
