We are pleased to announce that two new scientific articles co-authored by prof. dr hab. inż. Jacek Szołtysek, Head of the Department of Social Logistics, have been published in the journal "Energies", which is included in the so-called "Philadelphia List."
On Sustainable Development in BRICS Countries
The first published article, titled "Econometric Analysis of BRICS Countries’ Activities in 1990–2022: Seeking Evidence of Sustainability," focuses on BRICS countries, which are responsible for 43.2% of global greenhouse gas emissions and play a key role in environmental sustainability efforts. The study examines the impact of energy intensity, innovation, maritime economy, and renewable energy on environmental sustainability between 1990 and 2022, considering the ESG (Economic, Social, and Governance) framework.
The findings indicate that the development of renewable energy and innovations effectively reduce emissions, whereas maritime trade and fishing activities contribute to environmental degradation. This highlights the need for further technical cooperation and energy transformation in BRICS countries.

On Supply Chain Management in Smart Cities
The second article, titled "Supply Chain Management in Smart City Manufacturing Clusters: An Alternative Approach to Urban Freight Mobility with Electric Vehicles," examines the integration of electric vehicles and crowdshipping systems within multi-level urban manufacturing clusters (CMFMC) to enhance last-mile parcel delivery (LMPD) and urban logistics.
The study presents an LMPD efficiency assessment model utilizing shared vehicle fleets (VSF), considering cargo rotation and the structure of electric vehicle fleets. The results indicate that integrating crowdshipping and VSF is an effective solution in demand uncertainty scenarios, supporting sustainable urban logistics planning.
