The second edition of the InCECC conference took place on October 24-25, 2024. The timing of the conference coincides with the International Day of Climate Action, providing an excellent opportunity to discuss the challenges associated with the path to climate neutrality. The conference program included keynote speeches by invited guests, the inauguration of the "CECC Climate Moods - Autumn Debate," and presentations of various scientific, research, and educational activities on the economics of climate change, undertaken and implemented on the initiative of the Climate Change Economics Center team.
Prof. UE dr hab. Monika Wieczorek-Kosmala, welcoming the conference guests and university representatives, summarized the most important achievements of the Center's team (new scientific and educational projects, fitting into the idea of Long Life Learning). The first day of the conference was graced by two keynote speeches. Prof. Marco Papa (University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy) presented the results of research on the impact of regulations on the quality of disclosures regarding carbon dioxide emissions by companies. Dr. Ghiottone (Chief Risk Officer at Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata, Italy) presented the gathered experiences of the banking sector regarding ESG risks. The program of the first day of the conference was supplemented by presentations of projects implemented by young researchers as part of the Science Stage GZM, funded by the Metropolitan Science Support Fund (ECOnomics4Climate II project).
The second day of the conference opened with a debate entitled "The CECC Climate Moods - Autumn Debate: Economic Challenges of Sustainable Transition," moderated by Prof. UE dr hab. Julię Włodarczyk. The following were invited to participate in the discussion: Prof. Julija Bulatova, RISEBA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Prof. Boris Popesko, Vice-Dean for Research, Tomas Bata University in Zlín (Czech Republic), Prof. Ismail Erturk, Manchester Business School (UK), as well as Prof. Marco Papa, University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy) and Dr. Giansimone Ghiottone, Chief Risk Officer at Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata (Italy). The further part of the proceedings continued with presentations within the framework of the Science Stage GZM.
The conference program was also filled with interesting workshops summarizing the MOOWCODE project, prepared by Prof. UE dr hab. Agata Austen and dr Kinga Hoffmann-Burdzińska.
We hope that the 2nd International Conference on Economics of Climate Change (InCECC) has provided all participants with a space to exchange the latest knowledge and experiences.
