The Institute of Labor was established in 1962 and was transformed into the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs 10 years later. The supervisory authority for the IPiSS (Institute of Labor and Social Affairs) is the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy. The Institute addresses labor and social policy issues in an interdisciplinary manner. Disciplines represented in its work include economics, law, political science, sociology, pedagogy, and social policy. Research directions are tailored to the current needs of the country's socio-economic policies. The Institute also engages in publishing activities, including books and journals. IPiSS research is pioneering in many fields.
In December, the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs in Warsaw announced the results of a competition for the best master's and doctoral theses. The first prize was awarded to a doctoral dissertation written in the Department of Public Management and Social Sciences by Dr. Anna Kozak, titled "Determinants of the Development of Co-production in the Delivery of Social Services". The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hab. Aldona Frączkiewicz-Wronka, with Dr. Hanna Kelm serving as the assistant supervisor.
The competition is conducted separately for two categories of works: master's and doctoral theses. The Competition Committee is appointed by the Director of the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs. The goals of the competition include increasing interest among university graduates and doctoral candidates in labor and social policy issues, identifying talented individuals who should be encouraged and supported in deepening their knowledge in these fields, highlighting directions and topics for research that align with the current needs of the reformed socio-economic system, and popularizing knowledge about labor and social policy issues.
The competition covers master's and doctoral theses completed in the calendar years 2023 and 2024 that address labor and social policy issues. A thesis is considered completed if it has been defended and has resulted in the awarding of a master's degree or a doctoral title.
