Procedure for organizing internships from 1st October 2025

All correspondence between students and academic staff shall be sent from accounts in the @uekat domain and via email internship@uekat.pl.
The Dean responsible for internships is dr hab. Joanna Palonka, prof. UE Vice Dean of the School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies. The mandatory internship cannot take place without a valid Agreement (i.e., approved by the receiving institution, the supervisor, and the Vice-Dean) on the conduct of a mandatory student internship.

By signing an agreement, a student declares that they possess valid Personal Accident Insurance (NNW).
If a student is required to perform a mandatory internship in a setting where there is a possibility of contact with minors, they must have certificate of a clear criminal record from the National Court Register.

On October 1, 2025, new Rules and Regulations of Student Internships came into force. Agreements signed before the date of entry into force of these Rules and Regulations shall be governed by the existing rules.

The Rules and Regulations of Student Internships at the University of Economics in Katowice

 

1. Mandatory internship (outside of the University)

Before starting an internship, a student completes the AGREEMENT ON MANDATORY STUDENT INTERNSHIP. After printing them (the Agreement should be printed in 3 copies, and the Internship Completion Form in 1 copy), follow the instructions below.

Step 1. A student, in agreement with the internship host, completes 3 copies of the Agreement. The date of the internship Agreement conclusion and the details of the Dean/Vice-Dean should not be included in the Agreement. Student Services shall complete these details.

Step 2. A student obtains the signature and seal of the representative of the receiving institution for the internship on 3 copies of the Agreement.

Step 3. A student submits 3 copies of the Agreement to the supervisor or program director (in the absence or prolonged absence of the supervisor) to obtain an opinion on the internship. The opinion may be issued by email.

Step 4.  A student shall deliver 3 copies of the Agreement, together with the opinion of the supervisor or program director, signed by the student and the host organization, to the Student Services (room No. 319 A) to obtain the signature of the University – at least 2 weeks before the planned start of the internship.

If the supervisor's or program director's opinion is submitted in a form other than the Agreement, e.g., by email, it should be attached as an appendix to the Agreement.

Step 5.  After the Agreement has been signed by the Dean/Vice-Dean of the School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, a student is informed that they can collect 2 copies of the Agreement. They keep 1 copy for themselves and deliver the other to the receiving institution for the internship.

Only after obtaining the Dean's consent can they begin the internship.

Step 6. A student completes their internship.

Step 7. After completing the mandatory internship, a student completes Part A of the MANDATORY INTERNSHIP COMPLETION FORM. They then submit the Form to be completed by their professional supervisor at the receiving institution (Part B).

Step 8. A student submits the completed Parts A and B of the Form to Student Services (room No. 319 A).

After a positive review of the Internship Completion Form, the Dean shall credit the internship. In the event of a negative review of the Internship Completion Form, the student shall be notified of this fact by email.

2. Mandatory internship (in the University’s organizational unit)

Before starting an internship, a student completes the DECLARATION OF AN ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT OF THE UNIVERSITY ON THE ADMISSION OF A STUDENT TO A MANDATORY INTERNSHIP.  After printing them (The Declaration of an Organizational Unit of the University on the Admission of a Student to a Mandatory Internship should be printed in 3 copies, and the Internship Completion Form in 1 copy), follow the instructions below.

Step 1. A student, in consultation with the University’s organizational unit providing the internship, completes the Declaration of an Organizational Unit of the University on the Admission of a Student to a Mandatory Internship in three copies. The date of the internship Agreement conclusion and the details of the Dean/Vice-Dean should not be included in the Agreement. Student Services shall complete these details.

Step 2. A student obtains the signature and seal of the representative from the unit providing the internship on 3 copies of the Declaration.

Step 3. A student submits 3 copies of the Agreement to the supervisor or program director (in the absence or prolonged absence of the supervisor) to obtain an opinion on the internship. The opinion may be issued by email.

Step 4. A student shall deliver 3 copies of the Agreement, together with the opinion of the supervisor or program director, signed by the student and the unit providing the internship, to the Student Services (room No. 319 A) to obtain the signature of the University – at least 2 weeks before the planned start of the internship.

3. Recognizing other activities as a mandatory internship

Before beginning the procedure to recognize other activities as a mandatory internship, a student completes the COMPLETION FORM RECOGNIZING OTHER ACTIVITIES AS A MANDATORY INTERNSHIP. After printing, follow the instructions below

Step 1. The Student completes the Completion Form Recognizing Other Activities as a Mandatory Internship. Then, they submit the Form to be completed by a representative of the institution where the activity was performed (Part B).

Step 2. A student submits the Form to the supervisor or program director (in the absence or prolonged absence of the supervisor) to obtain confirmation of the achievement of learning outcomes. Confirmation may be issued by email.

Step 3. A student submits the completed Parts A, B, and C of the Form to Student Services (room No. 319 A).

After a positive review of the Completion Form Recognizing Other Activities as a Mandatory Internship, the Dean shall credit the internship. In the event of a negative review of the Internship Completion Form, the student shall be notified of this fact by email.
