The rules of conducting classes in the academic year 2020/2021

Dear Students and PhD students,

the new academic year 2020/2021 will start on October 1. Studying at the University of Economics in Katowice will be undertaken by students and PhD students who are just starting their adventure with our Alma Mater. Having regard to the ongoing pandemic, contact with the University will be different than before. However, I intend to make every effort to provide you a wide range of possibilities to develop knowledge and talents in the spirit of the academic climate. I am glad that this important chapter of your life will be associated with the University of Economics in Katowice - a modern business university with traditions. I wish new students and those who continue their adventure with the University that this year, above all, will be safe and at the same time successful and full of challenges.

Taking into account the persistently high level of epidemiological risk, based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, and primarily considering the safety of the entire academic community, classes at Bachelor's and Master’s Degree Programs (both full-time and part-time conducted in Polish) in the winter semester of the academic year 2020/2021 will be online.

Considering the number of students and the University's infrastructure, in particular the number and size of rooms, common spaces and corridors, a decision was made to allow the participants of the English-language programs, specializations and Euroclasses  to attend classes in hybrid form with the principles of the sanitary regime. The classes conducted within the English-language programs are attended by students who take part in foreign exchange and foreign students coming to our University. The condition for receiving a scholarship by participants of the above-mentioned programs is the stay and realization of classes in the country of the host university.

In the winter semester 2020/2021, classes at the doctoral studies and at the Doctoral School will be conducted at the University in compliance with safety rules.

Classes at postgraduate studies, as a rule, will be conducted online. However, in justified cases, due to the specificity of individual fields of postgraduate studies, it will be possible to conduct selected subjects / modules of education at the University.

Conducting classes at the English-language programs and doctoral studies at the University will allow for the maximum use of the University space while maintaining social distance and the sanitary regime.
