English language requirements

Acceptable certificates and qualifications for the English language include:

  • Certificates issued by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations:

    • B2 First (FCE)

    • C1 Advanced (CAE)

    • C2 Proficiency (CPE)

    • B2 Business Vantage (BEC Vantage)

    • C1 Business Higher

    • Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – minimum score 5.5

  • Certificates from Trinity College London:

    • ESOL Skills for Life Level 1 (B2) or higher

    • Integrated Skills in English (ISE) – ISE II or higher

    • ISE Digital – over 80 pts (B2)

  • Certificates from Educational Testing Service (ETS):

    • TOEFL iBT – minimum score 72

    • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication):

      - Listening & Reading — minimum 785 points

      - Speaking — minimum 150 points

      - Writing — minimum 160 points

  • Certificates from Pearson Assessment English:

    • Pearson English International Certificate – Level 3 (or above)

    • PTE Academic – minimum score 59

  • Certificates from LanguageCert (PeopleCert Qualifications):

    • LanguageCert International ESOL Communicator B2 (Listening, Reading, Writing) or higher together with LanguageCert International ESOL Communicator B2 Speaking or higher

    • LanguageCert Academic B2 or higher

    • LanguageCert Test of English B2 or higher

  • LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry)

    • LCCI English for Business — Level 2 (B2) or higher

    • Foundation Certificate for Teachers of Business English (FTBE)

  • Other recognised certificates such as:

    • European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL) Level B2 or higher

    • telc GmbH certificates: Certificate in English, Certificate in English for Business Purposes, Certificate in English Technical, telc English University etc.

The certificate must confirm all four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Candidates must upload a scanned copy of the certificate to the online application system. 

Other qualifications demonstrating proficiency in English include:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (if taken in English)
  • European Baccalaureate Diploma (if taken in English)
  • a diploma of completion of first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies or long-cycle Master’s studies, containing information that English was the language of instruction of the studies; and if the diploma does not contain such information – additionally a diploma supplement or a medium of instruction certificate.
