EU citizen - Education obtained in EU / OECD / EFTA / Ukraine / China

Below is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the application process and ensure a smooth enrollment at UE Katowice.

1) Learn about the application rules and how admission points are calculated

Before starting your application, please familiarize yourself with the admission rules and the method used to calculate recruitment (admission) points.

For Bachelor’s programmes, two subjects are taken into account during the qualification process: one foreign language and one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Geography, History, Physics, or Informatics.

A maximum of 200 admission points may be obtained from the two subjects taken into account when calculating the admission score (up to 100 points for each subject). The conversion scales for grades from foreign certificates into recruitment points are available on the website.

2) Apply online

The admission process is conducted via the IRK application system.

Create an account in the IRK system, log in, complete all required personal data, provide information about your education, choose your study program(s), and follow the subsequent steps.

You may find it useful to consult our IRK System Manual, which presents, step by step, how to complete your application and navigate the IRK system. Click here to read the manual.

Your IRK account includes a “Help” tab, which should be used for all correspondence regarding your application. Messages sent through this tab are automatically linked to your account, allowing us to respond more quickly and efficiently.

3) Prepare and scan the required documents

Please prepare scans of the following documents:

  • Secondary school leaving certificate or a document confirming completion of the final examination
    • a scanned copy of the document must be uploaded to the IRK recruitment system,
    • the original document (bearing an apostille*) must be presented upon arrival at the university.

* Apostille is not required at the stage of application. The deadline for its submission is upon enrollment in Poland (by the end of September).

  • Sworn translation of the secondary school certificate into English or Polish;
  • Certificate confirming your proficient command of English (minimum required level: B2);
  • Document confirming the right to study under the same tuition fee conditions as Polish citizens (valid passport of a citizen of an EU country);
  • Written consent of the statutory representative (if you are under the age of 18);
  • Recent passport photograph – prepared in accordance with the specified requirements.

4) Upload all required documents to the IRK application system

Upload scans of the required documents to the dedicated sections of your “Enrollment applications” within the specified deadlines.

Please note that once the round has ended, it will no longer be possible to upload any files in the system. Applications that are not completed before the end of the round will not be considered.

5) Pay the application fee

Pay the application fee in the amount of PLN 85 or EUR 20 (the bank account number is available in the IRK application system).

Upload the payment confirmation to your account in the same section where you uploaded your documents. This helps us identify the payment in our bank statements. In the absence of the necessary information in the transfer title, which prevents us from assigning the payment to the candidate, if the payment is not processed before the end of the round, the application will not be considered.

Once the payment is credited to the University's bank account, your application will be further processed and verified. Applications without payment will not be considered or verified.

6) Wait until your documents are verified

Your application will be verified in the IRK system during the admissions round. If your application requires supplementation, you will be informed in the system about any missing documents. Please note that if the required documents are not submitted within the specified deadline, your application will be left without consideration.

The qualification status will be updated only after the end of the admissions round (please refer to the admission schedule).

7) Wait for the qualification decision

On the day the results are announced, the qualification decision will be visible in the IRK system (please refer to the admission schedule).

8) Pay the tuition fee

After you are qualified for your chosen program, you will receive a payment notification for the first-year tuition fee. Once we confirm the transfer, we will issue your acceptance letter.

9) Visit the Admissions Office at UE Katowice and complete the enrollment procedure

The admission procedure is completed once the original documents previously uploaded as scans in the recruitment system are submitted to the Admissions Office.

You are requested to submit your original documents to the Admissions Office within the deadline applicable to candidates residing in Poland (in accordance with the notification in the IRK system) or within a deadline agreed individually with the Admissions Office. Timely submission is vital to complete your enrollment, obtain access to USOS (the Student System), receive your class schedule and student ID card, and register for selected courses (e.g., foreign languages and physical education).

If you are unable to arrive in Poland within this deadline, you must come to Poland and complete your enrollment in person before the start of the semester (no later than the end of September). Please note, however, that late arrival may delay your access to USOS (the Student System), your class schedule and student ID card, as well as your ability to register for selected courses (e.g., foreign languages and physical education).

Visit the Admissions Office and bring all your original documents so that copies can be made and included in your student file. The Admissions Office is located in the CNTI building, room 2/17, Bogucicka 5 Street, Katowice.

If you fail to enroll in person within the registration period, you will not be officially registered as a student, and your admission may be cancelled. If you anticipate that, due to objective reasons, you may not be able to arrive by the end of September, please inform us as soon as possible. In justified cases, a short extension may be considered, subject to the Rector’s approval. Each request is assessed individually.

Please note that to enroll in a study program in Poland, you must have valid health insurance. This can be a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). We strongly recommend also purchasing additional accident insurance (NNW), as the EHIC covers only basic medical care in case of illness and does not provide coverage for accidents, personal liability, or other emergency situations. Having NNW ensures broader protection and peace of mind during your stay in Poland.

NOTE: We warmly invite you to take part in Integration Week for incoming international students. Integration Week will take place in the last week of September 2026. It is an important part of preparing for the start of your studies and adapting to the academic environment. Participation in this event is not mandatory but highly recommended.
