Matryoshka Academic Club

The Matryoshka Academic Club was registered on January 10, 2014. Previously, it operated as an initiative group of students of the University of Economics in Katowice. The beginnings of the Club’s activity date back to 2011, when students belonging to the 'Matryoshka' Club organized the Russian Language Day at the University in December 2011.

The objective of the Club’s activity is to show and bring closer the interested part of the academic community to economic and legal conditions of Russian-speaking countries, as well as to promote the Russian language, culture and art of Russian-speaking countries. From June 2012, members and supporters of 'Matryoshka' Club paid several visits to Russia, including St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Katyn, and Kaliningrad, and also took part in summer language courses in Russia and the Student International Language Contest several times. During the visits, they made many rewarding contacts with students and employees of visited universities, which until now provides for interesting initiatives from both sides.

As part of the Club’s activities, students are preparing to participate in contests and student conferences. Meetings – seminars, lectures, language workshops and competitions – are organized regularly. Both students and some of the University’s research and teaching staff are active participants of 'Matryoshka'Club.

The substantive supervisor of the Club is Bożena Kopoczyńska – bozena.kopoczynska@ue.katowice.pl
