On May 14, students of Finance and Accounting together with members of the "Start-Up" Scientific Club participated in a study trip to the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The trip was carried out as part of the GPW Foundation's project "Studenckie sesje na parkiecie". The initiators and organizers of the trip were employees of the Department of Corporate Finance and Insurance, dr inż. Iwona Gorzeń-Mitka, dr Małgorzata Lipowicz, mgr Krzysztof Pałęga i mgr Anna Sikora.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, participate in the screening of films presenting its history, and listen to two thematic lectures conducted by WSE experts.
During the first one, which concerned the operation of the Stock Exchange, a capital market expert familiarized the listeners with the current structure of the Stock Exchange and the rules of trading and investing in selected financial instruments. In addition, the following topics were discussed: investment strategies that can be dedicated to beginner investors, which met with great interest from the participants.
During the second lecture entitled "ESG and the financing and functioning of enterprises listed on the WSE", the ESG expert introduced the audience to issues related to sustainable development goals, regulatory guidelines for enterprises in this area and current challenges faced by entities in the area of ESG reporting. The presented topics aroused great interest among the Department's employees in the context of their research on: sustainable development challenges from the perspective of corporate finance.
The lectures delivered met with great interest from our students, which was reflected in numerous questions directed to experts.
The study visit was aimed at expanding practical knowledge about the functioning of GPW S.A. in Warsaw, financial strategies and the impact of ESG issues on the activities of enterprises.
