CEEMAN Association's Support for Ukraine International Conference

Between September 21-23, an international conference of the CEEMAN association (Central and East European Management Development Association) was held at the IEDC Bled School of Management, during which a representative of our University, Director of Internationalization Ms. Edyta Lachowicz-Santos, took part in a debate on the experiences of Ukrainian and Polish universities during the war.

This was the 30th edition of the CEEMAN association's annual conference, which attracted more than 80 participants from 26 countries. This year’s theme was "The Future of Management Education: Understanding the Big Picture".

The war in Ukraine was also widely discussed. The session on tangible needs identified by Ukrainian universities and the experiences and thoughts of representatives of economic universities in Poland that support them was attended by:

  • Anna Górska, Ph.D. – Head of the Research Center for Women and Diversity in Organizations at Kozminski University, session moderator,
  • Iryna Tykhomyrova – Head of MIM-Kyiv, Ukraine,
  • Olga Karpova – Head of the KROK Business School, Ukraine,
  • Natalia Oboznenko – Academic Director at Lviv Business School, Ukraine,
  • Professor Maciej Szymczak, Ph.D. – Vice-Rector for Development and External Relations at the Poznań University of Economics and Business,
  • Professor Mikołaj Pindelski, Ph.D. – Department of Management Theory, Collegium of Management and Finance at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics
  • Edyta Lachowicz–Santos – Director of Internationalization at the University of Economics in Katowice.

"During the debate, the participants got us thinking about how the CEEMAN community can continue to support Ukraine and Ukrainians amid war. Polish business schools are an excellent example of how knowledge, emotions and humanity can help deal with difficult situations such as mass exile caused by war. It was incredibly inspiring to hear how business schools in Ukraine are continuing their mission of education. Working and supporting each other brought them closer together and triggered genuine optimism among the academic community. The stories from Ukraine and Poland have encouraged many school representatives and CEEMAN members to continue pursuing new innovative and creative ways to support Ukrainian business schools through partnerships to make education even more accessible, high-quality and relevant." – CEEMAN Chair Danica Purg said summing up the session.

CEEMAN Association is also the institution that awards some of the most prestigious and respected international accreditations in the field of management education.

CEEMAN International Quality Accreditation (IQA) for the University of Economics in Katwoice was granted on February 6, 2020.
