CEEMAN IQA Re-accreditation for Another 6 Years

We are delighted to announce that the University of Economics in Katowice has been granted international institutional re-accreditation under the CEEMAN International Quality Accreditation (IQA) for another full six-year period - until September 1, 2032. The decision was made by the CEEMAN IQA Accreditation Committee based on the recommendation of the international Peer Review Team. The granting of re-accreditation for another six years confirms the high quality of education, research, as well as the operations and development of our University.

Another 6 Years with CEEMAN IQA

The University of Economics in Katowice was first awarded CEEMAN IQA accreditation in 2020, also for a period of six years. This year's re-accreditation process was therefore an opportunity not only for a comprehensive assessment of the University's current activities, but also to review the changes introduced since the previous accreditation and the implementation of the recommendations received at that time.

In the report summarising the process, the experts highlighted the development and numerous changes that have taken place at the University over the past six years. They identified both its strengths and recommendations that will provide valuable guidance for the University's further improvement and development.

One of the key stages of the re-accreditation process was the Peer Review Team visit, which took place at the University of Economics in Katowice on May 14-15, 2026. The team comprised prof. Drikus Kriek from IEDC-Bled School of Management (Slovenia) and the University of South Africa (South Africa), as well as prof. Soumodip Sarkar from the University of Évora (Portugal).

During the two-day visit, the experts met with more than 50 people representing various groups within the academic community and the University's external environment - University authorities, academic and administrative staff, students, doctoral students, alumni and business representatives. The Committee highlighted the professionalism, openness and strong engagement of those participating in the meetings.

CEEMAN reaccreditation for another six years is an important recognition of the University of Economics in Katowice’s development path and of the progress we have made in strengthening our international profile. Now that we are beginning to celebrate the University’s 90th anniversary, this milestone is particularly meaningful, as CEEMAN has been our first international institutional accreditation. The peer review process itself was a valuable opportunity for self-assessment, reflection, and looking at the University from an external, peer perspective. The recommendations and insights gained through this process have been reflected in our new strategy and in initiatives focused on continuous improvement, social responsibility, impact, and stronger regional and international cooperation, including within our European Universities alliance BAUHAUS4EU - emphasises HM the Rector.

The International Accreditations Team was responsible for preparing the University for the re-accreditation process, developing the documentation and coordinating the activities. The Team comprised:

  • dr Marcin Baron - Chair,
  • dr hab. Monika Sulimowska-Formowicz, prof. UE,
  • prof. dr hab. Tomasz Ingram,
  • dr Krystyna Mitręga-Niestrój,
  • dr Marta Grybś-Kabocik,
  • mgr Karolina Borys,
  • mgr Edyta Lachowicz-Santos - Coordinator,
  • Yelyzaveta Kashlieva.
