Christmas party for international students and doctoral students

On 16 December we had the pleasure of spending a special time with our international students and doctoral students. Our guests had the opportunity to taste traditional Polish dishes and learn more about Polish Christmas traditions. Our special guest was the Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations Prof. Sławomir Smyczek, Ph.D.

Students and doctoral students had the opportunity to learn about and sing Polish Christmas carols, and taste Christmas dishes such as borscht with croquette, poppy seed cake, or cheesecake. In addition, they learned about customs associated with Christmas, such as waiting for the first star, an empty place at the table for an unexpected guest, decorating the Christmas tree, and sharing wafers. The meeting was also a unique opportunity to learn about Christmas customs in Ukraine, France, and Mexico, among others.

Special wishes from the entire academic community were personally extended to foreign students, doctoral students, and Polish uni buddies by Vice-Rector Sławomir Smyczek.

In the end, we sang carols together in various languages. We hope that this event will stay in the hearts of our students and doctoral students for a long time.
