On Friday, November 17, 2023, our University hosted Open Day with NAWA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) dedicated to academic staff, students, and doctoral students from all Polish universities. Directly before the beginning of the event - at 9:15 a.m. - the "Feel good @UEKat" project was inaugurated. It aims to integrate Polish and international students while also supporting their well-being. Open Day with NAWA, as well as the "Feel good @UEKat" project, was opened by NAWA Director General Dr. Dawid Kostecki.
Open Day with NAWA
During Open Day, NAWA experts presented programs for researchers and academic staff, professional staff, students, and doctoral students. Institutional programs supporting the internationalization of Polish universities and scientific units were also on the agenda, including information about new program formats planned by NAWA for launch in 2024.
Participants had the opportunity to meet beneficiaries of the NAWA scholarship programs and project leaders from our University. Staff and students from other Silesian universities also shared information on good practice. Open Day with NAWA took place in the CNTI building of the University of Economics in Katowice, at ul. Bogucicka 5.
Inauguration of the "Feel Good @UEKat" Project
Right before Open Day with NAWA began, we celebrated an official inauguration of the "Feel Good @UEKat - support for improving the psycho-physical condition of international students at UE Katowice". NAWA Director Dr. Dawid Kostecki performed the ribbon cutting during the event at our University’s Welcome Point (Room No. 112A, Building A, ul. Bogucicka 3).
The project’s implementation at Welcome Point includes numerous meetings and events dedicated to fostering attitudes of openness and tolerance, as well as the integration of Polish and foreign students (as part of "internationalization at home"). Planned are workshops on the essentials of psychological self-care, healthy food (education on healthy eating, with live cooking demonstrations on how to prepare healthy yet tasty meals), mindfulness or effective learning. Some of the other scheduled events include a workshop on creating forests in a jar (integration through the creation of ecosystems in jars, decorating student apartments, promoting closeness to nature), "Adopt a plant" event or "Juice it up Thursdays" (promoting healthy eating through making freshly squeezed juices). One of the project’s elements that also ties in with the activities implemented within the framework of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 shall be the photo contest "I feel good @Katowice".
"Feel good @ UEKat – support for improving the psycho-physical condition of foreign students at UE Katowice" project received funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the program "Welcome to Poland (2022)". Total value of the project: PLN 233,350.00.
