From questions like: Is the Silesian language possible in the 21st century? Does artificial intelligence change the principles of research ethics? What is the impact of the green transition on the labor market? Is the future of healthcare digital? Does the evaluation of scientific activity have any future? To this year's conference slogan: Life changes science. EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF2024) – the most important scientific event of the year – will take place from June 12 to 15, 2024, at the International Congress Center in Katowice in connection with Katowice being awarded the title of European City of Science. The University of Economics in Katowice will be represented by our experts during the sessions, while the Rector, Prof. Celina M. Olszak, will participate in the opening ceremony and a special rector's panel.
The Katowice edition of ESOF is the eleventh in a row and the first in Poland and Central Europe. It focuses on six thematic areas, which are the core of the most current research topics: energy transformation, sustainable environment, cultural identity and social transformations, changes within scientific excellence, healthy society, and digital transformation. The debate is open to all interested parties.
Program
The conference program includes over 100 sessions, featuring more than 400 speakers from world-renowned research centers. Keynote speakers include Jara Pascual from Collabwith, Philip K. Hopke from Clarkson University, David Stainforth from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Sabina Leonelli from the University of Exeter, Krzysztof Wodiczko from MIT, and Marcin Piątkowski from Kozminski University and the World Bank (https://www.esof.eu/en/keynote-speakers). The greatest value of the conference is the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with a large number of scientists from various fields who will present their research in the context of social life and the changes taking place in the world and science itself.
The program also includes numerous poster sessions, workshops, networking activities, and accompanying events such as the TalentON competition and, above all, the EU Talent Fair, which is a European job fair for young scientists and those interested in research careers.
ESOF 2024 features six main areas addressing the most important challenges in science today: energy transformation, sustainable environment, cultural identity and social transformations, changes within scientific excellence, healthy society, and digital transformation.
