From December 1, 2023, changes to the parking rules in the city of Katowice come into force, so the University of Economics in Katowice introduces access control through a self-service barrier system of the area designated for parking spaces for employees, students and doctoral students located around Building F, securing the University areas designated for parking lots from an influx of unauthorized persons. All issued Elektroniczne Karty Pracownicze (EKP) [Employee IDs] and ID cards are given the appropriate authorization.
Paid parking zones in Katowice
Two paid parking zones have been created, i.e. zone A (blue) - Śródmiejska Strefa Płatnego Parkowania (ŚSPP) [Downtown Paid Parking Zone] covering the city center of Katowice, and zone B (green) - Strefa Płatnego Parkowania (SPP) [Paid Parking Zone] covering the outskirts of the city center, as well as parts of Koszutka, Os. Paderewskiego and Zawodzie.
A map of the zones can be found here. (in Polish)
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that parking spaces located in the immediate vicinity of the University campus (ul. Bogucicka, 1 Maja, Ks. Bpa Adamskiego, Koszarowa), which have not been previously subject to a fee, are now part of the Paid Parking Zone – zone B (green), according to the introduced designation. Parking lots located on Aleja Walentego Roździeńskiego (around the residential buildings of the "Gwiazdy" estate) will be dedicated to holders of Parkingowa Karta Mieszkańca (PKM) [Resident's Parking Card].
In zone B (green), parking fees are effective as of December 1, 2023, from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The fees are as follows:
- 2 zł – for parking up to 30 minutes
- 4 zł – for parking more than 30 minutes up to 1 hour
- 4,80 zł – for the second parking hour
- 5,60 zł – for the third parking hour
- 4,00 zł – for each additional parking hour
All the rules of the paid parking zones can be found here. (in Polish)
The city is introducing e-parking control, carried out by vehicles with special devices installed or by controllers (on streets where, for technical reasons, the control vehicles cannot enter). These vehicles shall scan the license plates of parked cars and verify them with a database of vehicles for which a fee has been paid.

The inner parking lot of buildings A, B, C, G, E and L and the parking lot of building N located at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design are dedicated exclusively to the University employees.
Due to the limited number of parking spaces, we ask that cars be parked in designated areas, in a manner that maximizes the use of available spaces, while also being mindful of other parked vehicles, pedestrian pathways, green areas and keeping fire roads clear.
