In the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, the interdisciplinary Student-Led Course "How to Manage Green Events" will take place as part of the European University Alliance BAUHAUS4EU.
The course is designed for students who want to learn how to organise events in a more sustainable, responsible, and inclusive way. During the course, participants will explore the environmental and social aspects of event organisation - from transportation, catering, and the use of materials to waste management, accessibility, and participant experience.
The classes will have a practical and project-based format. Students will work in interdisciplinary teams on a real event organised at the University of Economics in Katowice. They will analyse the event in terms of sustainability, accessibility, and inclusiveness and then develop concrete proposals for improvement.
The course will include workshops, project work, case study analysis, discussions, and sessions with invited practitioners. The results of the teams' work will be presented during a final poster session.
Participation in the course offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in addressing a real-life challenge, develop teamwork and project skills, and learn the principles of sustainable event management.
The course is open to Bachelor's students from all fields of study.
