Opening Ceremony

On the first day (May 23), the Opening Ceremony took place in Auditorium A of our University. The gathered participants were welcomed by:

Principal of the Adam Mickiewicz High School No. 3 in Katowice Katarzyna Noworzyń:

This is an event for you and you are the main protagonists. I would like to thank you and congratulate my kids for what they have done - this is already a huge success. Certainly, this event is a major success, but I would like you to be able to say after these three days "we are happy because we succeeded." And I would like you to say that "you are happy, and therefore – you succeeded.

Head of the Katowice City Hall Department of Education and Sport - Sławomir Witek:

I welcome you all sincerely, I would also like to welcome you on behalf of Mayor of the City of Katowice Marcin Krupa, Ph.D., and send you his warm regards. The Mayor is extremely pleased that we have the opportunity to host such an outstanding crowd of young people for the fifth time. We are especially pleased because we are hosting you in the city of Katowice, which we love very much and we hope that you will love it as well.

Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations Prof. Sławomir Smyczek, Ph.D.:

Dear guests, dear principals and teachers of the Adam Mickiewicz High School No. 3 in Katowice, as well as the city authorities, fantastic high school students from all over the world, their parents and organizers. Thank you for coming to the University of Economics in Katowice, and on behalf of the University Authorities, I would like to welcome you with the hope that for these three days you will feel at home.

I would like to share with you now my favorite saying: "Progress is better than perfection." Of course, your goal should be to strive for perfection, but remember that the very first day you consider yourself perfect will be the same day that marks you downfall. Therefore, keep growing, taking even small steps, because you don't have to leap to push your limits -
a simple step is enough.

Next to speak was Jan Bratkowski from UNICEF Poland, followed by a presentation entitled "The faster way to learn a langugage".

United Nations sessions

During the following days, students of the Adam Mickiewicz High School No. 3 in Katowicedebated during simulations of United Nations sessions on matters in such fields as international relations, politics, economics, human rights, ecology, diplomacy and many others.

In the Auditorium A during the final day, country delegations voted on the bills that had been debated earlier. After the votes were completed, it was time to recap and award the best delegates in different categories.

At the very end there was a break dance, the so-called "punishment".

Through this kind of experience, participants have learned to solve problems, overcome social barriers, reach agreements and compromises, and acquire leadership skills.

The event was held in the Auditorium, as well as in the rooms, with participants divided into smaller groups.
