Kick-Off Meeting of BAUHAUS4EU

From March 10 to 13, 2025, the official inauguration of the Kick-Off Event for the BAUHAUS4EU project – A European University for Resilient, Sustainable, Inclusive, and Beautiful Regions – took place in Weimar. The event gathered representatives from all 10 alliance partners, along with regional partners of the meeting’s host and project leader, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (BUW). The University of Economics in Katowice was represented by Vice-Rector for Education and International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hab. Wojciech Dyduch, Director of the Internationalization Office, Edyta Lachowicz-Santos, dr Barbara Probierz and

dr Przemysław Juszczuk.

Participants were warmly welcomed by BUW Rector, Prof. Peter Benz, who had previously visited Katowice during this year’s University Celebration, as well as representatives from EACEA, EUA, and NEB. Over three intensive days in Weimar, activities included teamwork on the action schedule for specific work packages (WP), presentations of project activities and tasks by WP leaders for Committee members, Digital Learning Lab workshops, and more.

UE Katowice was represented by Vice-Rector for Teaching and International Relations prof. dr hab. Wojciech Dyduch, who is a member of both the Steering Committee and the Rectors’ Council. Edyta Lachowicz-Santos, Director of the Internationalization Office, Institutional Coordinator of the Alliance, Steering Committee member, and WP1 package coordinator, also participated in the event.

A key role in the meeting was played by representatives of WP2, a work package led by our university:

  • dr Przemysław Juszczuk – Task 2.1 leader and WP5 team member
  • dr Barbara Probierz – WP2 team member and Task 5.1 leader

Together with international partners, they developed and presented the work schedule for the coming years, with a particular focus on the alliance’s digital platform, which will be launched within the first two years of the project.

The meeting concluded with a Steering Committee session, during which participants discussed progress, selected candidates for the Alliance Advisory Board, and reviewed the preliminary plan for the Bauhaus4EU Forum, scheduled for June at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, Portugal.
